As school and opportunity have taken me farther and farther from my own family, I have felt an increasingly strong desire to stay connected with my parents and grandparents and to preserve their life stories for myself and for future generations.

I have seen many companies approach this kind of work in ways that make it more complicated, expensive, or restrictive than it needs to be. Families should not have to sacrifice customizability or lose control over how they access, export, preserve, and use their own stories.

I created Mimring to be easy to use, affordable, highly customizable, and built around a simple principle: your family's memories belong to your family. You should be able to access your data and preserve it in the ways that matter most to you.

My hope is that Mimring can help families collect their stories today and keep them accessible for generations to come. That means taking seriously both the security of the memories entrusted to Mimring and your ability to keep, share, and use those memories beyond the service itself.
